EU Says No New Evidence Of Clot Risks In Contraceptives

Law360, New York (January 11, 2013, 6:36 PM EST) -- The European Medicines Agency said Friday that women should not stop using newer combined contraceptives, such as Bayer AG's Yaz, saying that there is no new evidence that the contraceptives come with a larger risk of blood clots than is already known.

The announcement came after France's health ministry said last week it would no longer reimburse third-generation contraceptive pills and asked doctors not to prescribe such pills unless a patient could not take earlier versions.
