Ardagh To Pay Saint-Gobain $1.7B For Glass Business

Law360, Los Angeles (January 17, 2013, 9:57 PM EST) -- French building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain SA has accepted a $1.7 billion offer from Irish glass and metal packaging company Ardagh Group SA for its North American glass container business, the companies said Thursday.

“After having consulted its Works council and having collected its favorable opinion, Compagnie de Saint-Gobain accepted the purchase offer of Ardagh on Verallia North America,” Saint-Gobain said in a Thursday statement. Ardagh announced Monday it had made a binding offer to acquire VNA from Saint-Gobain.
