Dish Asks FCC To Pause Sprint-SoftBank Review Clock

Law360, New York (January 17, 2013, 10:32 PM EST) -- Dish Networks Corp. on Thursday asked the Federal Communications Commission to pause its review of SoftBank Corp.'s $20 billion takeover of Sprint Nextel Corp., the latest volley in the brewing battle over Clearwire Corp.

Sprint is seeking regulatory clearance to sell 70 percent of itself to SoftBank, a deal announced in September. In recent weeks, however, Sprint and Dish have become competing bidders for Clearwire, a broadband Internet provider that owns valuable spectrum that each company wants.
