Chesapeake Can’t Nix BP’s $22M Claim Over Wells Buy

Law360, New York (January 18, 2013, 5:51 PM EST) -- An Oklahoma federal judge denied Chesapeake Exploration LLC summary judgment Thursday in its fight against BP PLC over an arbitration decision, noting the parties haven't resolved whether Chesapeake owes BP $22 million for title defects on wells BP bought from the Oklahoma City oil company.

The instant ruling upholds a Sept. 25 order in which U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange rejected a motion by Chesapeake Exploration and Chesapeake Investments LP for summary judgment against BP America Production Co.
