Fed. Circ. Junks $2.5M Verdict In Newegg Patent Fight

Law360, New York (January 22, 2013, 8:18 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Tuesday vacated a Texas jury's $2.5 million verdict against Newegg Inc. and invalidated three Soverain Software LLC patents covering electronic commerce, a ruling that may blunt the company's litigation offensive against other online retailers.

In a unanimous decision, the appeals court said Soverain's U.S. Patent Numbers 5,715,314; 5,909,492; and 7,272,639 were made obvious in view of prior art.
