FDA Approves Allergan's Botox For Overactive Bladders

Law360, Washington (January 22, 2013, 6:33 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday broadened its approval of Allergan Inc.'s Botox, saying the injections are safe to use as an overactive bladder treatment.

While the injections are widely regarded as an anti-wrinkle aid, studies showed the jabs effectively treat urinary incontinence as well by causing the bladder muscle to relax, stopping overly frequent contractions that lead to frequent urination.
