Jury Hands Hyundai Win In Santa Fe Rollover Suit

Law360, New York (January 24, 2013, 5:06 PM EST) -- A Nevada jury on Tuesday unanimously decided in favor of Hyundai Motor Co. in a suit alleging that defects and omissions in the safety system of the carmaker's Santa Fe sports utility vehicle resulted in serious injury during a rollover accident.

Following an 11-day trial, the jury returned a verdict finding the 2001 Santa Fe was not defective or unreasonably dangerous and that, therefore, Hyundai should not be held liable for injuries to plaintiff Melissa Stevens, who sought more than $3 million in damages. Stevens claimed...
