Pa. DEP To Study Radioactivity Associated With Fracking

Law360, Philadelphia (January 24, 2013, 5:19 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced Thursday it was launching a study of naturally occurring radiation associated with natural gas and oil development, as part of its efforts to address the environmental consequences of the state’s present energy boom.

The study intends to sample and analyze the levels of naturally occurring radiation at a range of sites across the state, sampling a variety of equipment, materials and media associated with drilling activity.
