Sullivan & Cromwell Steers $1.9B AT&T Spectrum Grab

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 2:13 PM EST) -- AT&T Inc. has inked its second spectrum deal of the week, agreeing on Friday to buy wireless airwaves from Verizon Wireless for $1.9 billion in an effort to beef up with mobile data speeds and keep pace with a quickly consolidating industry.

The all-cash deal includes spectrum licenses in five markets covering 42 million people in the U.S., mostly in the West and Midwest. It is expected to close in the second half of this year, though it will require signoff from the Federal Communications Commission...
