Md. AG Launches Web Privacy Squad

Law360, New York (January 29, 2013, 1:52 PM EST) -- Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler has formed a unit focused on protecting online users' privacy that will monitor companies to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal consumer protection laws, his office announced Monday.

The newly-formed Internet Privacy Unit will examine weaknesses in online privacy policies, work with industry stakeholders and privacy advocates to provide outreach and education to businesses and consumers, and broaden awareness about privacy rights so they are better equipped to manage online privacy challenges.
