EU Officially Kills $6.8B UPS-TNT Merger

Law360, New York (January 30, 2013, 1:16 PM EST) -- European antitrust regulators on Wednesday formally vetoed United Parcel Service Inc.'s $6.8 billion proposed acquisition of Dutch delivery company TNT Express NV, two weeks after UPS abandoned the deal as doomed.

The European Commission said the proposed merger would have restricted competition in 15 European countries by reducing the number companies offering express delivery of small packages to other EU countries.
