FTC Eyes Rule On Merger Notification, But Wright Skeptical

Law360, New York (February 4, 2013, 6:39 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Friday proposed formalizing its process for handling withdrawals of merger notifications in order to conserve resources, despite concerns by newly confirmed Republican Commissioner Joshua Wright that part of the plan might be "a solution in search of a problem."

The FTC's Premerger Notification Office has long allowed companies to withdraw and refile Hart Scott Rodino Act transaction filings without paying an additional fee in order to provide more time to review a deal during the initial phase of a merger review....
