Civil Rights Group Wants Judge To Quit Over Racist Remarks

Law360, Houston (February 6, 2013, 8:19 PM EST) -- A civil rights organization filed a judicial misconduct complaint Tuesday with the Fifth Circuit alleging a Texas federal judge routinely injects racially insensitive commentary into court proceedings that reveals his inability to fairly adjudicate employment discrimination cases.

The Texas Civil Rights Project says U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes repeatedly made “outlandish racial comments” in at least three employment discrimination suits, “demonstrating a pattern and practice of bias against alleged victims of discrimination.”
