Novartis Can't Shake $1M Aredia, Zometa Verdict In 4th Circ.

Law360, New York (February 8, 2013, 7:38 PM EST) -- The Fourth Circuit on Friday upheld a $1.2 million verdict in the case of a woman who was allegedly disfigured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.'s drugs Aredia and Zometa, saying the admission of disputed testimony did not negatively affect the case.

A three-judge panel rejected arguments by Novartis that a lower court erred when deciding what evidence to allow in the case, saying admitted statements by independent advisers that Novartis derided as “highly prejudicial” were in fact harmless.
