Employer Crackdown Key To Immigration Reform, Sens. Hear

Law360, New York (February 13, 2013, 2:44 PM ET) -- A crackdown on employers who hire undocumented laborers and the implementation of a nationwide framework for verifying workers' immigration statuses are crucial to reforming the “broken” U.S. immigration system, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano told a Senate committee Wednesday.

Napolitano testified at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing titled “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” that immigration reform should aim to eliminate the demand for undocumented workers, which she called the main driver of illegal immigration.
