GSK Win In Paxil Suicide Case Upheld In NM Court

Law360, New York (February 11, 2013, 7:53 PM EST) -- A New Mexico appeals court on Thursday upheld a lower court’s decision to toss a suit against GlaxoSmithKline PLC filed by relatives of a woman who committed suicide that alleged the company didn’t properly warn consumers about the risks associated with its antidepressant Paxil.

According to the three-judge panel’s opinion, the woman who committed suicide, Susan Silva, had been prescribed Paxil or its generic equivalent, paroxetine, in 2004. Two years later, she killed herself.
