Law360, New York (February 15, 2013, 2:33 PM ET) -- There is a well-worn proverb that desperate times call for desperate measures. For some investors, these are desperate times. A decade marked by two bear markets, a slow-growth economy and plummeting home values has driven investors to chase return in more and more complex investment products as they struggle for a way to bolster their lagging retirement nest eggs. Too often, the inner-workings of these products are not explained in a manner that allows the average investor to fully understand and appreciate the risks.
