High Court Won't Touch Zach Scruggs' Misprision Conviction

Law360, New York (February 19, 2013, 10:20 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear an appeal from the son of an ex-attorney convicted in judicial bribery scandals, refusing to take up the son's argument that his own felony conviction should be vacated in light of the high court's Skilling decision.

Without comment, the Supreme Court denied the petition of David Zachary Scruggs, who unsuccessfully argued to the Fifth Circuit that his conviction for misprision of a felony should be nixed because the 2010 Skilling ruling narrowed the definition of honest services...
