Pa. House Leader Outlines Liquor Privatization Bill

Law360, Philadelphia (February 21, 2013, 3:11 PM EST) -- A top Republican in the Pennsylvania General Assembly unveiled draft legislation Tuesday that would implement Gov. Tom Corbett’s sweeping plan to generate $1 billion in new revenue by selling off Pennsylvania’s state-run liquor system.

The bill — put forward by Rep. Mike Turzai, R-Allegheny, majority leader in the state’s House of Representatives — would put the Pennsylvania Department of General Services in charge of divesting the state of its approximately 600 wine and spirit shops over the course of 3 1/2 years.
