Air France-KLM Fined $7M By Brazil Over Air Cargo Cartel

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 6:35 PM EST) -- Brazil's antitrust watchdog has penalized the two airlines that merged to become Air France-KLM 14 million reais ($7 million) for their involvement in an alleged cartel for air cargo services, the agency said Thursday.

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, known as CADE, also signed cease and desist agreements with Societe Air France SA and Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij NV, as well as two individuals, which require them to put an end to the practices that the watchdog was investigating.
