Fla. Senate Dems Call For Insurance Interstate Compact

Law360, Miami (February 22, 2013, 9:23 PM EST) -- Democrats in the Florida Senate have called upon Republican Gov. Rick Scott to engage other governors to form an insurance interstate compact, saying previous GOP-backed efforts at reining in burdensome property insurance rates in the state have failed.

“Despite the legislature’s efforts and your calls for deregulation, the results have been akin to shifting deck chairs,” Senate Democratic Leader Chris Smith of Fort Lauderdale and several other Senate Democrats wrote in a letter to the governor Thursday.
