Organic Banana Grower Says Tainted Fungicide Ruined Crop

Law360, Miami (February 22, 2013, 7:32 PM ET) -- Plantaciones del Norte SA, an organic banana producer in the Dominican Republic, sued the Spanish maker of an organic fungicide and its Florida distributor in state court in Miami, claiming contaminated product cost it millions of dollars in sales and other damages.

Plantaciones said in its Feb. 14 complaint that in June 2012 the hazardous synthetic chemical didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride was found on its bananas, making it impossible not only for Plantaciones to label its bananas as organic but to legally sell them at all....
