Mountaire Farms Puts Up $8M To Settle Don, Doff Suit

Law360, New York (February 28, 2013, 6:47 PM ET) -- Mountaire Farms Inc. on Wednesday agreed to pay $7.85 million to settle a class action in North Carolina by workers who accused the company of failing to pay them for time spent donning and doffing protective gear.

Under the proposed settlement, Mountaire has agreed to set up a fund and pay as much as $6.6 million to the workers in its chicken processing plant to resolve the lawsuit.

Mountaire is also on the hook for attorneys' fees and administrative costs on top of those damages. The...
