GOP Lawmaker's Bill Would Stop Ethanol-Gas Blend Use

Law360, New York (March 1, 2013, 2:23 PM EST) -- Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., introduced a bill Thursday that would halt the use of a controversial new gasoline blend that contains up to 15 percent ethanol approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, claiming the fuel harms gasoline-powered engines.

The bill would yank the EPA's waiver allowing the so-called E15 fuel into the market and bar the agency from issuing future waivers until it receives an independent scientific analysis of the fuel's effects on engines.
