Roche Appeals Recusal Ruling In NJ Accutane Suits

Law360, New York (March 4, 2013, 3:58 PM EST) -- Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. asked a New Jersey appeals court Monday to review Judge Carol Higbee's refusal to recuse herself from Accutane personal injury litigation, arguing that critical and sometimes inaccurate statements about the drugmaker's attorneys in her ruling offered further proof of her bias.

Judge Higbee rejected Roche's request that she recuse herself from the litigation in a Feb. 13 opinion, saying she did not favor the plaintiffs, as the drugmaker claimed. The judge is overseeing more than 7,700 lawsuits alleging the acne drug Accutane causes...
