Obama Picks MIT Professor For Energy Secretary

Law360, New York (March 4, 2013, 1:19 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Monday nominated nuclear physicist and Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Ernest Moniz to lead the U.S. Department of Energy, selecting an agency and Washington veteran to succeed previous energy secretary Steven Chu.

Moniz was the associate director of the White House Office of Science and Technology during the Clinton administration before becoming undersecretary of energy. He currently serves on Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology in addition to his academic work at MIT.
