Law360, New York (March 6, 2013, 12:16 PM EST) -- As U.S. regulators continue to focus much of their enforcement resources on the pursuit of insider trading cases, the scope and nature of their investigations continue to impact a broader scope of market activity. While much attention has been paid in recent cases to the interaction between private investment funds and third-party consultants provided through so-called "expert networks," both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Congress now appear poised to turn their attention to the activities of "political intelligence firms."
