WIPO Summit Leaves Deep Split Unbridged

Law360, New York (October 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rich and poor nations have agreed to try and patch up some of their differences in a policy stalemate that is threatening to undermine the authority of the U.N.’s World Intellectual Property Organization.

In a nod to countries that have been lobbying to beef up WIPO’s development agenda, the organization’s General Assembly, which closed on Wednesday, agreed to set up a panel to look into development issues.
