CFTC Reauthorization Bill Gets Committee Approval

Law360, New York (December 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The congressional committee with prime oversight authority over the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved a bill Wednesday that would reauthorize the agency through 2013 and would adopt numerous changes designed to increase the scope of the commission's authority.

The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture met Wednesday morning to approve the bill, known as the CFTC Reauthorization Act of 2007, by voice vote and to laud the commission's regulation of U.S. futures markets since it was modernized in a 2000 law.
