Aetna Sued Over Personal Injury Benefit Repayments

Law360, New York (March 8, 2013, 2:37 PM EST) -- Aetna Inc. and its affiliates unlawfully recovered benefits they paid out as a result of personal injury suits filed by insured members involved in car accidents, according to a proposed class action seeking removal to New Jersey federal court Thursday.

Michelle Roche, Jay Minerly and Tim Singleton allege they each suffered personal injuries in separate car accidents and received medical benefits covered by Aetna under their respective group health benefits plans — payments which Aetna then tried to recover by slapping liens, subrogation or repayment demands...
