Pa. Rep. Seeks To Ban Fracking In State Forests

Law360, Philadelphia (March 11, 2013, 2:35 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania state representative on Monday introduced a bill that would permanently ban the leasing of additional state forest land for Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling.

House Bill 950, put forth by Rep. Greg Vitali, D-Delaware, builds on recent concern expressed by Pennsylvania Democrats over the potential for increased drilling activity in the state's parks and forests.

"Pennsylvania has already made about half of its state forestland available for drilling," Vitali, the Democratic chairman of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, said in a statement....
