EU Imposes Full Ban On Animal-Tested Cosmetics

Law360, New York (March 11, 2013, 4:41 PM EDT) -- The European Union on Monday banned the import and sale of all cosmetic products containing ingredients that are tested on animals, the final step in a gradual process of barring the items from the bloc.

EU regulators said the ban, effective immediately, would be “an important signal on the value that Europe attaches to animal welfare” and that the 27-nation bloc would push its trading partners to enact similar measures.
