IBM Drops Countersuit In SCO Linux Case

Law360, New York (October 10, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- IBM has unexpectedly dropped its counterclaims against the SCO Group in an effort to expedite the long-running dispute between the two companies over intellectual property rights to the operating system Linux.

IBM maintains that four of business computing software company SCO’s products,-- UnixWare, OpenServer, SCO Manager and Reliant HA--infringe its patents.

Nonetheless, the company said in court filings last week that it dropped the counterclaims in order to hasten the jury trial of the case SCO filed against the computer giant two years ago.
