LP could potentially join forces with other investment firms to take over sought-after biotech firm Life Technologies Corp. in a deal purportedly worth about $12.5 billion, including the assumption of debt, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. Other firms hungry for a stake in the company include Blackstone Group LP, TPG Capital and Singapore's Temasek Holding Ltd.
