NY Tees Up Tax FCA Suits That May Dwarf Sprint Case

Law360, New York (March 13, 2013, 6:08 PM EDT) -- As lawyers await a key ruling in New York state's groundbreaking, $300 million False Claims Act lawsuit against Sprint Nextel Corp. over sales tax payments for flat-fee calling plans, more — and bigger — cases are in the pipeline targeting tax-dodging corporations.

The attorney general's office in Albany told Law360 that it planned to bring additional cases against corporate defendants by using unique language in New York's False Claims Act that allows the state to go after alleged tax evaders and seek triple damages.
