EPO Board Says Int'l Cooperation Needed To Improve Patents

Law360, New York (March 13, 2013, 7:56 PM EDT) -- Citing "widespread concern that patent quality is deteriorating," an advisory panel for the European Patent Office on Wednesday called for several changes to the patent system, including increased cooperation among international patent offices.

The Economic and Scientific Advisory Board, a panel of professors and other experts created by the EPO last year to examine issues facing the office, based its report on a series of workshops it conducted on patent issues in recent months.
