Broadcom Gets Over $9M In Fees, Interest

Law360, New York (December 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge overseeing a dispute over video phone patents between Qualcomm Inc. and Broadcom Corp. has assessed $9.26 million in legal fees against plaintiff Qualcomm, including prejudgment interest levied because Qualcomm's outside counsel allegedly failed to produce crucial documents during the litigation.

On Tuesday, Judge Rudi M. Brewster of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California adopted a magistrate judge's recommendation to award Broadcom, for which a jury found judgment in January, $8,568,633.24 in legal fees, expert fees and litigation costs....
