Crowley Keeps $16M Navy Contract Despite Price-Fixing Scam

Law360, Wilmington (March 14, 2013, 9:51 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Navy properly handed a $16.5 million fuel shipping contract to Crowley Petroleum Services Inc. even though a company affiliate pled guilty to price-fixing on freight services to Puerto Rico, according to a U.S. Government Accountability Office decision made public Wednesday.

New Jersey-based USS Chartering LLC had protested the contract award as improper because a Crowley Petroleum affiliate recently pled guilty to taking part in a freight transportation price-fixing conspiracy, resulting in a $17 million fine.
