Ill. Official Gambled With Campaign Funds, Jury Hears

Law360, Chicago (March 14, 2013, 6:22 PM EDT) -- A federal prosecutor told jurors Thursday that Cook County Commissioner William Beavers failed to properly report campaign funds he used for gambling and other personal pursuits as income, while the defense shot back that the withdrawals were loans and Beavers had committed no crime.
