Ex-USTR Asks ITC To Probe Effects Of NAFTA Rule Changes

Law360, New York (March 15, 2013, 1:19 PM EDT) -- Recently resigned U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to investigate and provide advice on the possible economic impacts of proposed changes to rules under the North American Free Trade Agreement, the ITC said Thursday.

Kirk — who stepped down Thursday after four years in the cabinet position — sent a letter to ITC Chairman Irving Williamson asking the commission to advise the administration on the potential effects of a set of proposed modifications to some of NAFTA's rules of origin....
