Obama Renews Call For $2B Clean Energy Research Fund

Law360, New York (March 15, 2013, 6:16 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Friday renewed his call to use revenues from oil and natural gas production to fund $2 billion in research on alternative vehicle technologies, saying the proposal would help curb spikes in gasoline prices.

In a speech at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory outside Chicago, the president urged Congress to set up an Energy Security Trust that would issue some $200 million a year for the next decade to develop natural gas fuels, biofuels and more efficient batteries.
