Deals Rumor Mill: IBM, GE, Forstmann Little

By Karlee Weinmann (March 15, 2013, 12:39 PM EDT) -- Computing giants IBM Corp. and EMC Corp. are among several firms looking to buy web hosting company SoftLayer Technologies Inc. in a deal that could fetch more than $2 billion, sources told Reuters on Friday. Texas-based SoftLayer, backed since 2010 by GI Partners, has swelled into one of the world's central providers of cloud-based services, mainly to small and mid-sized businesses. Several months ago, AT&T Inc. approached the company to discuss a buyout, but has since dropped out of the running. SoftLayer has recruited Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse Group AG to vet bidders....
