Lawmakers Look To Start Pa. Justice's Impeachment Probe

Law360, Philadelphia (March 15, 2013, 3:28 PM EDT) -- With 40 of their legislative colleagues in tow, a bipartisan pair of Pennsylvania lawmakers introduced a resolution Thursday that would authorize an impeachment investigation against convicted state Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin, who was convicted in February on corruption charges.

The resolution from Reps. Glen Grell, R-Cumberland, and John Sabatina, D-Philadelphia, would authorize the state House of Representatives’ Judiciary Committee to investigate whether Justice Melvin, a Republican who was found guilty on charges that she ordered her judicial staff to work on her political campaigns,...
