HHS Falls Short Of Improper Payment Goals, Watchdog Says

Law360, New York (March 18, 2013, 7:51 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reduced the proportion of improper payments made by a number of its "high-risk" programs during 2012 but fell short of its goals and needs to improve, according to a report released Monday.

According to the HHS Office of Inspector General, the agency had reduced the percentages of improper payments made by five of the nine programs deemed high-risk by the OIG during fiscal year 2012, as compared to the previous fiscal year.
