US-EU Trade Talks May Start This Summer, White House Says

Law360, New York (March 20, 2013, 9:53 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama plans to start negotiating as early as this summer on a comprehensive trade and investment deal with the European Union that would support millions of jobs across the Atlantic and create a $5 trillion free trade zone, the White House said Wednesday.

The Obama administration wrote to Congress to offer a formal notification of the president’s plans to negotiate on the so-called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. Talks will not start until at least three months after the notification, according to Acting U.S....
