Cisco Hit With $70M Fraud Verdict Over Call Center Software

Law360, New York (March 22, 2013, 5:39 PM EDT) -- Cisco Systems Inc. must pay XpertUniverse Inc. $70 million for using a joint venture to steal XpertUniverse's call center software patents so it could sell its own products, a Delaware federal jury ruled Friday.

The jury found that Cisco had fraudulently concealed its intentions to use a joint venture to secretly gain access to XpertUniverse's call center matching software so that it could develop its own rival technology, awarding XpertUniverse the entire $70 million in damages it had asked for.
