FCC Overturns Media Cross-Ownership Rule

Law360, New York (December 18, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Federal Communications Commission voted on Tuesday to overturn a 32-year-old rule that prohibited one entity from owning both a broadcast station and a daily newspaper in the same media market.

In a 3-2 vote split along party lines, the FCC's commissioners approved a proposal to allow cross-ownership in the country's largest 20 markets.
