OMB Tells Agencies To Share Financial Services IT

Law360, New York (March 26, 2013, 8:20 PM EDT) -- The Office of Management and Budget wants agencies to use shared federal financial services platforms, part of an overall effort to consolidate the government's acquisition power and avoid repeating past struggles with agency-by-agency information technology procurements, according to a Monday memo.

Agencies have typically struggled with large-scale, complex financial management systems, and expanding shared service providers — typically run by other government agencies — can make better use of common systems and providers' expertise, OMB Director Danny Werfel wrote in a governmentwide memo.
