Convicted Ex-Detroit Mayor Denied Bond

Law360, New York (March 27, 2013, 5:10 PM EDT) -- A Michigan federal judge on Wednesday declined to release convicted ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on bond as he awaits sentencing for public corruption convictions, saying he posed a flight risk.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds said Kilpatrick’s criminal record, past dishonesty with the court and presumed access to untracked cash, some of which has been provided by his contractor friend Bobby Ferguson, made him unsuitable for release.
