Lawmaker Still Skittish Over Cloned Food

Law360, New York (December 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Still concerned over how safe the milk and meat from cloned animals would be, a Democratic lawmaker is urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to hold off on allowing the products into stores until further studies can be done.

On Tuesday, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), the chairwoman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on agriculture, sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach, encouraging him to delay a decision on cloned food until more data can be gathered.
